Doctors

Maya now hates doctors. She's fine in the waiting room with the kids and the Finding Nemo playing on the tv. But once she gets in that examination room she starts crying. And if you've got a white coat, a stethoscope, or a nursing degree you bring the tears and not the smiles.

Tomorrow she has to go in and have some completely unnecessary procedure done to make sure her kidneys are okay and that she has no problems in that area. Why? Because she had a UTI and she's too little to have a UTI. So they want to be sure she's okay. She is. So she has to go in and get sedated and blah, blah, blah, blah, nervous mommy, sad baby blah.

It sucks. I feel bad for her because she has no idea what's going on. And it further reinforces my dislike and distrust of doctors. We'll go in, have this test done, get charged a lot of money, and she'll be fine.

But here are some happy photos of her. And some news.
She loves shoes (thank god),

animals (here she is meeting piggies at Bever Park's little zoo) and she says bye bye, bubble, up, and ah oh.
She loves to eat broccoli, blueberries, mixed veggies,..well, she loves fruits and vegetables. She just loves em.

And tonight she took steps. Real steps!! So cute!! Pretty soon she'll be Walken.

Almost ONE!!!!

Nine Months!

On Monday Maya went to her nine months check up with Daddy. At nine months (I can't believe it!) she is 28 and a quarter inches tall (75%), 19 pounds and 10 oz (65%), and her noggin' is 46 cm (94%) As you can see from the above photo she has become very interested in the world around her. Cupboards especially, she uses her little fingers to open them and then pulls out all the pots and pans so she can sit in the cupboard. We play "Where's Maya?" and close and open the door saying "There's Maya!!) She likes that game. So at the moment all of our pots and lids are lying on the kitchen floor. She also loves standing up, she pulls herself to standing all the time and likes walking around (more like jumperooing/bouncing as she takes steps) with Daddy.

In this picture Maya is "lounging" with Momma on the floor. She spends lots of time looking at her books (which are covering our living room floor) and talking to the babies and animals in them. She is also crawling off her tummy and is so fast we have a hard time keeping up with her. With the standing and the crawling, and the trying to stand up from sitting we're expecting her to be walking by her birthday.

Thankfully (for Momma and Dadda) Maya is sleeping much better and able to fall back asleep without assistance from us- most of the time. We only have to get up and feed her once (sometimes twice) after midnight. (Maya is a gremlin and so we have to feed her after midnight or she'll take over the mall.)

So much has changed and happened in the last two weeks for her! She even likes playing with Uncle Jason now!!

She also will wave bye bye and occasionally say "Baaaaaa" to Momma when she goes back to work after lunch. And Momma still gets those "kisses" (more like puppy licks) when she asks for them..

Kisses!!

First Tooth

Today Maya is officially six months old!! And of course a big milestone had to accompany that so yesterday Maya started sticking her tongue out, a lot. Just darting it out over and over, prompting mommy and daddy to say, "It's so cute!" And we'd stick our tongues out back at her. Tonight, mommy did some investigating and found the beginnings of a little toothie coming out on the bottom row. So, she's just feeling her toothie with her tongue (she's doing it in this photo I took this morning). So cute!

Now that it's quite chilly and Maya can't go to the park every other day, she enjoys looking out the window. She's like a kitty when they look out the window and talk to the birds. She'll stand up on the couch (with some help from Momma), stare out the window and talks.

Maya has also learned how to yell "momma" or "dadda" when she's crying, usually when she's mad crying. It's not really "momma, dadda" it's just "waaahhhmmamamamammadaaadaaadd", but we still look at each other like, "whooa, did you hear that?"

Here she is talking to her taggies.

And here she is snuggling with Auntie B after her 8k race..Brynna's 8k not Maya's. Maya can only do a 5k, this year. Next year she's going half marathon for sures.

Home Again

Maya had a busy weekend. We went to Grandma Jo's house for the Fourth of July and threw a small "meet the baby" meet and greet on Saturday. As usual on the way to Ames Maya cried in the car for twenty minutes before falling asleep for the rest of the trip. Everyone says, "Well, baby's love car rides..." Not this baby. Although, she did do a lot better on the way home.

Maya's puppy cousin K'nute was staying at Grandma's too. So she got a lot of little puppy kisses from her as well as many snuggles and hugs from family and friends. In the picture below, Maya and K'nute are all tuckered out taking their baby naps together. Maya from a long cry in the morning, K'nute from playing with the kitties all morning. (And yes, we know it plainly says on the Boppy "not to sleep on" but we thought we'd try it because she loves sleeping on her side and if she didn't sleep on it, K'nute would sleep in it. And of course she was watched the whole time.)

Maya's milestones for the week were smiling, finding her hand to chew on (just a little), and watching her surroundings more. Everyone comments on how she follows mommy's voice around. (And daddy's too!) She's crying less and less which helps mommy and daddy out a lot. And she's still an amazingly good nighttime sleeper which really really helps mommy and daddy out a lot.
