So Sorry, So Busy

I have been very busy lately going to see houses and trying to sleep (inzombia) so I haven't had a chance to upload photos..sorry!

Here are a few from the last month, and by a few I mean a lot: Maya likes to hide in these cupboards..so we took everything out of them.
Maya wasn't too impressed with sledding. Never have I seen a kid go down a hill fast and have a blank expression on their face. Not happy, not scared. Just bored. She would rather dig in the snow with a shovel. Oh well....

This is Aunt B's...cake?
A night with the boy cousins! Max and Maya share a hug (with Maya's favorite doll "Nakie Boy". (Maya is fond of saying "I wanna be nakie all the time," She seldom wears pants at home.)
Maya's "Bebe Sully."

Riley conked out and so sweet.
This was Maya's first day back at the park. What a long winter it was for this outdoorsy little girl. She is a big fan of the swings, or "fings" as she calls them.
These are from another day at the park. We took her to two parks in one day!! It was the second park after Grandpa Greg and Grandma Peggy brought her big girl bed, which she took a nap in right after they left. It's her favorite spot to read in...and I think it's hilarious to hear this wailing sound come running down the hall in the middle of the night when she wakes up. Which is of course a lot because it seems Maya is also an inzombiac.

I got out of the shower one day to this. Maya had every single nightnight diapie opened like dead birds in the hall. She then put them all away.

That's it. She's growing and changing and of course has this crazy amazing vocabulary and way of carrying on conversations that makes her seem older than her 22 months.

She's even started saying, "Ummm.." before starting a sentence. I think she's close to potty training, "Momma have to go poop potty" usually means she wants to sit on the potty to "toot". But she's trying! She also tells me when I have to go poop potty. "Momma go poop potty now?" She also has gotten into imaginative play. She gets really into making her bubble toys talk in the bath and it's cute to listen to them "bye bye mommy whale..." "okay let's go."

Summer Begins

First time in the sand. The "flood buggies" were so bad this day that we didn't stay long at The Palisades.
Don't look, I gonna eat some clovers.

Lately, we've been spending almost everyday at the park. We'll, Maya and her Daddy have, and I'm usually working. She loves to climb on the equipment, spin the spinning things, and go down the slide. She also likes to pick up pine cones, go for walks, and try to eat things that are generally yucky..mmm, wood chips. The result of all this running around and playing is a baby that goes to sleep much earlier and sleeps fairly well. This makes mommy and daddy happy because it means more mommy and daddy time.

Maya is interested in other kids at the playground, but doesn't really interact with them (she likes to watch). Although she does enjoy chasing Max around and laughing when she sees him.

She still loves fruit, won't eat ice cream or cakey. But if you cut up grapes-that's the good stuff.

Man she's a talker now. "Up", "Wylie", "Shoes", "Hot" - these are just a few of the new ones. If we pour coffee, or if you open the stove she says "hot" in this cute whispery way that Max used to do when he was her age. They told us that she would know six words by 15 months. We looked at each other because she already knew six and now it's like ten or twelve.

I don't mean to brag, but she's getting an A- in AP English.

She also loves her new big girl car seat!

Lately

Lately Maya is loving standing up, following momma around the house, eating blueberries, talking to the kitties in her books, copying Max's laugh when he came over to play, going to the park to swing and watch kids, helping momma fold laundry, and sleeping in her crib.

Maya decided that the ducks at the park didn't need bread.

She doesn't understand what the fuss is about slides. "This is dull Momma, take me back to where I can see kids."

Fall

Last Saturday we decided to go for a quick hike to the outlook at Palisades Kepler State Park which is a short ride down the road from us.

Maya, being a whole lot like her Momma, enjoys being outside and marvels at the trees and the pretty leaves.

Here we are looking out at the sun setting behind the Cedar River.

But as the sun goes down, maya's nose and toes get colder, and her pumpkin hat that Grandma Jo made can only keep her head warm...

back in the toasty warm car, it's not long before she's asleep.
"All that walking that momma and poppa did made me tired."

Geese, Appie Sauce, and Mustacheo Basheos?

The Mustacheo Basheo has finally come and gone. It was a little stressful for Maya who doesn't do well when over stimulated, but she did sit and talk people's ears off once a majority of the party patrons had left.

She loves to talk, especially in conversations. If you are talking to someone, she has to interject..and she just goes on and on. She has also learned how to push off one sock, and bounce herself in her chair. She has been really fussy this week leading us to believe that teeth may be sprouting soon. (Here she is riding the mustacheo pinata! Viva La Mustacheo Revolution!!) Speaking of sprouting and hair, it's starting to look like she's growing some. On her head of course. That's a fake mustache.

I also have included a picture of her eating cereal mixed in appie sauce which, of course, she loves so much she tries to feed herself!

And last, a picture from the park last week when the geese were big enough to eat her. Whole.

Let's Try, Putting it in My Mouth

Maya has taken to putting everything in her mouth. Her kitty, The birdie Cori made her and sent from Portland. It's her fave. She seems to enjoy it more than her pacie, but not more than her hand.

We took her to the park and showed her the geese and the pretty flowers. She's like her momma, she loves being outside. A big day equals a nap in the car seat, and a big bottle when she got home.
